NÜRDAM Joins the COST Action ENRICH

09 Ocak 2026 Cuma

The Nuclear Radiation Detectors Application and Research Center (NÜRDAM) at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University has officially been approved as a participant in the CA24131 – European Network for radiation-detection based Research and Innovation addressing increasing societal CHallenges (ENRICH) COST Action, supported by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) programme.

The ENRICH COST Action is a multidisciplinary European research network aiming to address increasing societal, environmental, industrial, and security-related challenges through radiation-detection-based research and innovative technologies. The Action focuses on the development of next-generation radiation detectors and sensing systems for key application areas such as nuclear safety, environmental monitoring, healthcare, industrial applications, and emergency response scenarios.

Within this framework, NÜRDAM will actively contribute to the activities of Working Group 2 (WG2) and Working Group 5 (WG5).

  • WG2 activities will benefit from NÜRDAM’s expertise in innovative detector materials, gaseous and semiconductor detector technologies, nano-structured sensing approaches, and detector performance optimization.

  • WG5 will involve NÜRDAM’s contributions in application-driven scenarios, experimental validation, testing infrastructures, prototype development, and societal and industrial impact assessment, supported by the center’s advanced experimental facilities.

NÜRDAM aims to provide strong scientific input to the ENRICH COST Action through its core competencies in nano-patterned gaseous detectors (Nano-GEM), micro-pattern gaseous detectors (MPGD), UV-photocathode-based detection systems, radiation–matter interaction studies, and radiation shielding technologies, combined with its advanced experimental and simulation infrastructure. The center’s ongoing collaborations with leading international research institutions, including CERN, further enhance its integration into the European research ecosystem.

NÜRDAM’s participation in the ENRICH COST Action is expected to significantly enhance the center’s international visibility and to create new opportunities for early-stage researchers and graduate students, including short-term scientific missions, training activities, joint research projects, and high-impact publications. This involvement also contributes to strengthening Türkiye’s scientific presence in the field of radiation detection technologies at the European level.
