The National Radiation Sensors produced by Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Nuclear Radiation Detector Application and Research Center (NÜRDAM) have been transformed into radiation detectors for use on satellites in collaboration with TÜBİTAK Space and have started being used in domestic satellites.

Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa Varank, made statements to Anadolu Agency regarding the matter. Minister Varank noted that the detector will detect radiation falling on orbiting satellites, stating, "By measuring the radiation on electronic circuits, a radiation map of the orbit will be created, and based on the amount of radiation dose, the electronic circuits of satellites to be launched into space in the future will be produced to withstand this dose."

Emphasizing that these sensors have been converted into detectors in collaboration with TÜBİTAK Space, Varank said, "The detectors successfully passed pre-flight tests. Now, these detectors will be integrated into our national and domestic satellites, Türksat 6A, İMECE, which are in the design and production stages, as well as the Small Student Satellite-2B (SSS-2B) satellites produced by TÜBİTAK Space for the Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) under international agreements
